The Finnish abbreviation of the name of our organization is SAFRA.
The Association of Finland-Africa Societies (SAFRA) was created almost two decades ago following several meetings at which representatives of numerous Finnish volunteer societies having an interest in Africa were represented. Thus SAFRA is a creation of these various groups in Finland and is meant to serve their interests.

Cross Cultural Relations Event

The free OPENING EVENT will take place 23.3.2016 at 18.00 at the Caisa Cultural Centre, in Helsinki. The main seminar will take place 24.3.2016 at 10.00 - 15.30 at KEPA, Elimäenkatu 25-27, Helsinki.
Our speaker, Sandi Boucher is a member of the Ojibwe Nation in Ontario, Canada. She is much in demand as a seminar facilitator in her own country and abroad. She is the author of many books and articles including "Honorary Indian" and "Her Mother's Daughter". These two books speak of the creative strength which can be derived by understanding one's own culture and traditions. Her experiences provide an excellent reference point for Finns in encountering newcomers to their country. She has gained much acclaim for her presentation of "The Alexis Principle" of cross-cultural management. She recently won an excelllence award as female entrepreneur for Northwestern Ontario and is a graduate of Canada's Confederation College and Manager of her home region's intergroup Centre for Change.
Also speaking at the seminar on the subject of storytelling as a means to enhance empathy between cultures will be Duncan Weller, winner of Canada's coveted Governor-General's Award.
